The Sculpture

Korea and Japan have unresolved conflicts for 70 years about ‘sexual slavery by the Imperial Japanese Army’. This long conflict is now being argued around the sculpture called ‘The Girl of Peace’. This project is tackling the relation between Statue and Education. We have already become a subject of intense political interest beyond the artwork of the statue. And although it contains social and cultural meanings, we look at this statue through the education we already receive and we receive the education through this statue. This is the fact that we can not approach and interpret the statue through visual convention. Where does information or education about this statue we receive come from?
